I love these old special Jim Beam Decanters. Here's some pictures and a great story from a friend of mine.
"I have wanted to make a submission to your blog for a while but been so dang busy. Here is my first installment. It is an old collectable Jim Beam bottle that was behind my Grandpa's bar. My Grandpa had the coolest basement bar. I used to love playing behind it. The top was black lacquer and the foot rest was covered in red shag carpet The rest of it was made of that old dark paneling. I always loved looking at the cool bottles he had stashed behind it. Him and my grandma kept ice cream sandwiches in the freezer behind the bar for us kids. This was always my favorite bottle. I guess this is why I have always been a Jim Beam man and not a JD guy. It says this whisky was ten years old on the bottle when it was new. I am guessing this bottle is from around 1975-77 so it is probably around 47 years old. There is still about quarter whisky left in the bottle. I am planning on drinking it when I turn 40. The picture on the front is from a wildlife artist named J. Lochhart. I inherited this bottle after both my grandparents passed away. I know Beam doesn't fall under the category of cheap any more with a 1.75 being 22.99 nowadays, but it is a cool bottle. Heck I can't afford to drink it anymore! Let me know what you think."
